Biography:
Douglas Christopher Judge was born on October 13, 1967 in Los Angeles, California and has one younger brother who is also an actor. He comes from both African and Cherokee
decent, tops off at 6'3" tall, and has brown eyes.
He knew from an early age that he wanted to be an actor, taking to the stage in Junior High, however he decided that the best route would be to become an athlete first and get
his foot in the door via that route. Getting into the University of Oregon on a football scholarship, he started out as in pre-med, but soon ran afoul of the amount of math needed.
Christopher then changed majors to Philosophy for a short while, then to Psychology, before finally ending up as a Telecommunications and Film major with a minor in Psychology.
Although he was at Oregon on a football scholarship, Christopher played a mean game of baseball. He was urged to give up football by his baseball coach, but according to Christopher, "
Football players get all the chicks". Excelling at football as well as baseball, Christopher made the All-American team three times as a defensive safety and played in the 1987 Hula
Bowl his senior year.
While in Oregon, he entered a contest to host eth West Coast FOX KLSR Morning Show. Christopher's five minute monologue was chosen over thousands of others, and lead to him hosting
an "MTV talk show type thing". Soon he had an agent, and in 1989 he began studying at the Howard Fine Studio in Los Angeles. He was able to land bit parts in televisions shows, before
landing his first movie role as a police officer in the 1990 film Bird on a Wire, and his first reoccurring role in 1994 on
Sirens. In 1997 he was chosen out of a "rainbow coalition" of actors to be Teal'c on Stargate SG-1.
Christopher has been married once and is set to be married again, and is the father of four children. His son and fiancé, Gia, were in the Stargate SG-1 episode The Changeling with him. His family and children are important to him,
and he is active in the Boys and Girls Club of Canada.
While living in LA, Christopher roomed with a model photographer who began giving him his extra work. Christopher became quite good at it, and in 2002 set up a photography studio with Gia who is a makeup artist and model herself.
Of his endeavor, Christopher said: "Photography is just something I've picked up again; I used to work for a number of modeling agencies in LA a few years back doing tests. My girlfriend and I have set up a studio and are working on
it as a business. It's always good to have something to fall back on!".
This background in photography held Christopher in good stead when he and his best friend, Michael Shanks, who plays Daniel Jackson on Stargate SG-1, started up Slacktwaddle, a company founded to promote science fiction and "to satisfy
loyal sci-fi fans with well priced and exclusive merchandise". Their first venture was to create The Women of Sci-Fi Calendar, using as models many of the women they both have acted with in
various science fiction shows over the years. They are also planning The Men of Sci-Fi Calendar in response to fan urgings.
Christopher is also known for his other numerous creative outlets, he wrote three Stargate SG-1 episodes, The Changeling, Birthright,
and Sacrifices; he also provided the story basis for The Warrior. In 2005 Christopher produced and starred in the short film "Hacks".
He was working with Michael Greenberg, an Executive Producer on Stargate SG-1 and Ross Greenberg, Michael's brother and an Executive Producer of HBO Sports, to develop the Joe Louis story as a movie, and now in 2008 it looks like they will be able to go ahead with that.
Christopher's voice can be heard on the animated series Action Man, Book of Virtues, and X-Men, and the video games Def Jam Vendetta and Def Jam Fight for NY. In this same vein, fulfilling a life long ambition, Christopher has recorded his first CD.
The first single to be released will be "We're Going To Take Our Clothes Off".
